Upon Your Arrival

          Check-in: Unless previous arrangement have been made, check-in time is 3:00 p.m.

          Downey House Parking:
 Downey House has a four-space driveway that sits in front of the garage, which is located on 8th Street, behind the house.  Additional street parking is also available in front of the house on Clay Ave. if necessary.   Please note that on the west side of 8th street there is no parking Monday-Friday during the day.

          The Farm House Parking:  The Farm House has a long driveway next to the house (entry from Clay Street).   Parking is allowed to the right of the drive and in the drive way.  Additional street parking is also available in the front of the house on Clay Ave. if necessary.   Please do not park in the dentist parking lot east of the house during the week.  The parking lot is owned by the dentist office and is for their customers.

         Entry code:  At the time of your reservation, you will be asked to provide a four-digit entry code, which will serve as your "key" to enter the house(s).  This electronic device is located at the back entrance at Downey House (on the porch) and the front door at The Farm House.  To enter, simply input your four-digit code, wait for the light to turn green, then push the handle down and push the door open.  When you leave the home, the door will automatically lock behind you, and must be re-entered each time you enter the home. This code is cleared and changed with the arrival of each new customer.

         Payment:  You can make a payment online with a Credit Card at any time, you just need your reservation number.  If you have already arrived go ahead and relax and settle in.  Jeff Longwell be in contact with you some time during your stay to take payment.  Jeff can take check, cash, or credit card.

          Meet & Greet:  One of the best parts of this business is the opportunity to meet all the folks coming to stay at the houses.  Host Jeff Longwell lives right next door, and would love to welcome you during your stay and also answer any questions you may have about your stay.  Please feel free to call if you have any questions.  It's possible he may knock on the door for a quick "howdy," but will be respectful of your time and privacy and will make the visit brief - only intent is to make you feel welcome and offer any assistance in making your stay as comfortable as possible.
 
During Your Visit

          Things to do:  Plattsburg has plenty of Victorian scenery, several restaurants, unique shops, recreation, and lots of history!  Museums, bowling, swimming (seasonal), golf, hiking, walking trails, and more, await you upon your visit.   Downey House is on the Historical Walking Tour of Plattsburg and a map is available in both houses.  If weather does not permit walking, you can also view the homes from your car.  The Clinton County Historical Museum (located on Birch St near the First Christian Church) can be seen by appointment during your stay.

           Places to eat:  Whether you want home cooking, pizza, sandwiches or ice-cream, we've got it all!

           Surrounding area: Because Plattsburg is centrally located to several larger cities and towns, the opportunities for day trips are endless!  Head to Shatto Milk Company for a tour and free samples of award winning milk and cheeses or take a walk on the nature trails at Hartell Lake or head to Smithville Lake for boating and swimming activities.  For those wanting to venture out even further, head to Kansas City or St. Joseph and open doors to all kinds of possibilities, including arts, entertainment, theme parks and so much more!

Departure

          Check Out:  Unless previous arrangements have been made, check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
          Dishes:  Upon departure, please load the dishwasher with any dirty dishes, then run it.
          Bedding and towels:  Leave any beds that were slept in unmade, and place any extra sheets or blankets that were used in a pile on top of the nearest bed.  Place any dirty towels in the tub on either floor.
